10 Terrorists Killed in KP Ops, 6 Soldiers Martyr
In a series of coordinated operations conducted between September 15 and 17, the Pakistan Armed Forces reported the elimination of ten suspected terrorists across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan. According to the Inter‑Services Public Relations (ISPR), intelligence‑driven raids in North Waziristan and the Badrang area of Awaran district targeted cells linked to the state‑designated groups Fitna al‑Khawarij and Fitna al Hindustan, respectively. The operations culminated in the deaths of six militants in North Waziristan and four in Hangu, while an additional three were neutralised in Balochistan.
The ISPR highlighted that the militants were engaged in a range of terror activities, including the procurement and deployment of weapons and explosives. In each raid, security forces recovered significant caches of arms, ammunition, and explosives, underscoring the operational threat posed by these groups. The agency also noted that the militants were believed to be receiving external support, a claim that aligns with the Pakistani government’s long‑standing narrative of Indian sponsorship of the Tehreek‑i‑Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Tragically, the operations were marred by a separate incident on September 17 when an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated against a convoy of security personnel. The blast claimed the lives of six soldiers, who were posthumously honoured as martyrs by the ISPR. The incident prompted a rapid response from the military, which conducted a swift investigation and recovered additional weaponry from the site, further illustrating the persistent threat of IED attacks in the region.
These developments come amid a broader context of heightened security operations across Pakistan’s volatile provinces. The government has repeatedly emphasised its commitment to neutralising terrorist networks and safeguarding civilian populations. The ISPR’s statements serve both to inform the public of the ongoing threat and to reinforce the narrative of a robust, intelligence‑led counter‑terrorism strategy.
While the operations have been hailed as a success by the military, analysts caution that the elimination of a limited number of militants does not address the root causes of insurgency.
