Pakistan Rejects Taliban’s Dialogue Pretence
Pakistan said it would not accept the Afghan Taliban’s claim of a dialogue, calling it a pretence that shields terrorist threats.
The statement was issued after Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said Afghanistan wanted dialogue and called for stronger intelligence sharing mechanisms.
Pakistan rejected the Taliban’s warning of retaliatory action if Islamabad carried out military operations inside Afghanistan, insisting the Taliban must dismantle terrorist networks operating from its territory.
The ministry condemned the recent terrorist attack on civilians and police officials during Friday prayers in Kohat, describing the attackers as “the vilest of Khwarij with roots in Afghanistan.”
It urged the Taliban to take concrete, verifiable actions to dismantle terrorist sanctuaries and disrupt recruitment and training networks, citing the Doha Agreement obligations.
