Pakistan Strikes Terrorist Camps on Afghan Border

Pakistan conducted calibrated airstrikes on terrorist sites in the border region with Afghanistan, killing more than 28 militants, the information ministry said on Monday.

The strikes targeted hideouts and safe havens of Fitna al Khawarij and its affiliates, including a suicide bomber training centre, destroying large quantities of weapons and ammunition.

Earlier, security forces carried out a ground operation in Kohat and Hangu districts, eliminating nine militants. The airstrikes follow a series of attacks in the region and a UN report linking Afghan Taliban support to rising terrorism.

Pakistan has repeatedly urged the Afghan Taliban to dismantle terrorist sanctuaries on Afghan soil, but appeals have gone unheeded, according to the ministry.

The information ministry reaffirmed that the counterterrorism campaign will continue at full pace to eliminate foreign-sponsored terrorism.
