United Russia Wins Majority Amid Drone Attacks

United Russia secured a 57.5% vote share in Russia’s State Duma elections, according to state media, giving the party a two thirds majority.

The vote, the first since Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine, was conducted amid cyberattacks on election infrastructure and a record 1,600 Ukrainian drone strikes that damaged a refinery and a multi storey building.

The ruling party is projected to retain its constitutional amendment power, while opposition parties were barred from the ballot and the election was held in occupied Ukrainian territories.
