Kashmir Assembly Supports Statehood Return

The assembly in India held Kashmir endorsed a non binding resolution to restore statehood on Monday.

The resolution, introduced by Omar Abdullah, was condemned by the Bharatiya Janata Party as anti national and unconstitutional. The party staged a walkout during the vote. The resolution calls on the government to ensure immediate restoration of full statehood and references earlier autonomy resolutions from 2000 and 2024, none of which are constitutionally binding.
