Bangkok Floods Ease, Thai Airways Faces Baggage…

Bangkok floodwaters are expected to recede within three days, while Thai Airways is dealing with baggage delays and flight cancellations due to the heavy rain.

The government said standing water should clear in three days if no further rainfall occurs. Cabinet officials will discuss long‑term flood recovery plans on Tuesday.

Bangkok received about 320 mm of rain over two to three days last week, nearly as much as the city usually gets in all of September.

At Suvarnabhumi Airport, 69 Thai Air Force personnel were called in to support ground operations. Hundreds of bags remained lined up in hallways on Tuesday.

Thai Airways reported 34 flights delayed on Monday and that baggage from 52 flights between September 26 and 27 was being delivered to passengers. The airline also cancelled eight flights on Tuesday because of the flooding situation and aircraft rotation, warning that more cancellations or schedule changes could occur.

Across Thailand, 1,267 businesses in 40 provinces were affected by flooding, including 52 factories and 1,162 small and medium enterprises. Nationwide economic damage from the floods was estimated at over $320 million.
