Naqvi Calls on Governor Kundi Over Governor’s Rule
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi called on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi to discuss the political and security situation amid speculation of imminent governor’s rule in the province.
Both leaders expressed concerns over the risk of terrorists crossing security checkpoints during the PTI’s Islamabad march and agreed that if the president and prime minister decide to impose governor’s rule or an emergency to protect the province, the Governor’s House will play a full constitutional role. They also discussed growing unrest, the political scenario and the impact of the Islamabad march.
The governor’s statement said the KP government’s attitude during negotiations was tantamount to enmity toward the people and the province. He also called the use of helicopters by Afridi and provincial ministers for the march a blatant violation of the IHC verdict. The meeting included KP Inspector General Zulfikar Hameed and was reported to be a serious consideration for the imposition of emergency.
