Pakistan, Saudi, Turkey vow Swift Defense cooperation

Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey have pledged to immediately implement their commitments under the Makkah Defence Alliance into effective military cooperation.

The pledge was made during a meeting in Riyadh on Friday between Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir and the chiefs of general staff from Saudi Arabia and Turkey.

Participants discussed enhanced intelligence sharing, military coordination and integration of capabilities to strengthen deterrence and collective defence against threats such as the Houthi maritime blockade and attacks on Saudi infrastructure.

Pakistan will serve as the first secretary general of the alliance’s permanent secretariat in Riyadh, with retired Lt Gen Nauman Mahmood appointed to the role.

Turkey has expressed readiness to address Saudi military needs, while Pakistan has reiterated its commitment to the agreement.
