PM Shehbaz Plans Talks Amid KP Tensions

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is meeting allies to discuss imposing governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa amid rising terrorism and planned PTI protests.

The PM is set to meet President Asif Ali Zardari and PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari to discuss the political and security situation in the province. He will also consult with PML‑N leaders Sherry Rehman and Syed Naveed Qamar, as well as National Assembly opposition leader Mehmood Khan Achakzai, to seek ways to defuse the crisis before the PTI march on Islamabad on October 4.

Other meetings include talks with Jamaat‑i‑Islami leader Hafiz Naeemur Rehman over the petroleum levy and discussions with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi about the governor’s rule. The PPP has agreed to support the government’s security measures and has reviewed four bills related to port authorities and national insurance in the upcoming National Assembly session.
