PML-N Wins Bahawalpur By‑Election

PML‑N candidate Malik Munir Iqbal Channar secured 62,713 votes, nearly double independent Wali Dad Cheema’s 31,293, in the NA‑168 Bahawalpur‑V by‑poll.

The vote count was based on unofficial results from most of the 292 polling stations. Polling was largely peaceful, but isolated incidents of violence, mismanagement and complaints about the unavailability of women’s voter lists were reported. A brawl at a polling station in Akhtarabad, a PML‑N stronghold, briefly disrupted balloting; police intervention restored order.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated Channar and his brother Malik Zaheer Iqbal Channar, the Punjab Assembly deputy speaker, on the victory, praising the people of Bahawalpur for their confidence in the PML‑N.
