Pakistan Economy Stable, Growth Ahead
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced at the United Nations General Assembly that Pakistan’s economy has stabilized and is moving toward growth, citing massive structural reforms and the digitisation of the economy, the Federal Board of Revenue and e‑governance.
He invited U.S.-based Pakistani business leaders from the U.S.‑Pakistan Business Council and the Business Council for International Understanding to explore investment opportunities, highlighting agriculture, mining, information technology, artificial intelligence, energy security and trade as key areas of cooperation.
Shehbaz also noted the government’s privatisation plans for Pakistan International Airlines, a bank and provincial power distribution companies, stressing that the state’s role is to facilitate and support the private sector.
During the same session, the prime minister met UN Secretary‑General Antonio Guterres to discuss regional peace, the Middle East, Afghanistan and support for Palestinian self‑determination.
He also met Prince Rahim al‑Hussaini Aga Khan V, praised the Aga Khan Development Network’s work in health, agriculture and climate resilience, and invited further collaboration in these sectors.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar met foreign ministers from Bahrain and Singapore to review bilateral relations and reinforce Pakistan’s commitment to regional stability.
