Pakistan Shoots Down Eight Taliban Drones
Pakistan’s armed forces intercepted and destroyed eight drones launched by the Afghan Taliban near the Torkham border and Kohat.
Security sources said the drones were shot down by air defence systems, described as active and vigilant.
Four drones were intercepted near the Torkham border and the remaining four near Kohat, according to the sources.
Earlier, two rudimentary drones had been brought down using soft skill methods about seven kilometres from Kohat city.
The wreckage of the destroyed drones is being recovered, and the air defence systems remain on round the clock alert against threats from Afghanistan.
The incursion follows Pakistan’s recent calibrated airstrikes in the border region, which eliminated over 28 terrorists, and a ground operation that killed nine terrorists in Kohat and Hangu districts.
Pakistan has repeatedly urged the Afghan Taliban to dismantle terrorist sanctuaries on Afghan soil, a demand that has gone unheeded, according to the information ministry.
