PPP, Govt to Meet PTI on Friday
A joint delegation of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the government will meet PTI leaders on Friday to discuss the current political situation and the party’s planned protest march.
The meeting will include PPP representatives such as Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Adviser to the PM on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah, Senator Sherry Rehman and MNAs Naveed Qamar and Aijaz Jakhrani. PTI representatives will be led by Chairperson Barrister Gohar Khan, with support from TTAP spokesperson Akhundzada Yousafzai, Senate Opposition Leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas and former senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar.
Opposition leaders have confirmed that the meeting will take place in the office of National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq at 12 pm. However, National Assembly Opposition Leader Mehmood Khan Achakzai has ruled out attending the speaker’s chamber and has stated he will not meet at the Prime Minister’s office.
Discussion topics will cover the overall political situation, PTI’s planned protest march on October 4, and other constitutional and parliamentary matters. The meeting is seen as a potential step to defuse the current political crisis and address concerns over a possible imposition of governor’s rule or emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Both sides have expressed a willingness to negotiate, with the PTI insisting on peaceful protest and the government warning that it may take measures to prevent the march if security risks remain high.
