KP Govt Criticised for Terrorism Response
The Interior Minister accused the PTI‑led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government of failing to adequately fight terrorism.
He said the provincial administration had not provided leadership, resources or authority to security forces for 14 years, noting that the Counter‑Terrorism Department was still non‑functional and that forces lacked basic equipment such as bulletproof jackets, training and forensic labs.
Chaudhry also claimed the KP government created space for terrorists, did not condemn Afghanistan, and ignored calls for a stronger anti‑terror stance, citing the lack of condemnation after the Sept. 18 Kohat blast and the absence of the chief minister at the victims’ funeral prayers.
He criticised the proposed KP Police Act for limiting the powers of the provincial inspector general and accused the PTI of not attending anti‑terror meetings or allocating the National Finance Commission award for counter‑terrorism.
The minister highlighted attacks on rescue teams, drone strikes in Afghanistan, and the need for better surveillance of vehicles to curb terrorist activity.
