Prime Minister’s adviser Rana Sanaullah said Islamabad should be excluded from protest rights, citing security and diplomatic concerns.
Speaking on Geo News, Sanaullah noted that while people have constitutional rights to protest, demonstrations in the capital are banned under the Peaceful Assembly and Public Order Act 2024, which was passed before a PTI gathering.
He warned that PTI’s planned march to Islamabad for Imran Khan’s release had been postponed to Oct 4, and that the party had not applied for permission or informed authorities. He urged other parties to hold protests in cities such as Faisalabad, Hyderabad, Karachi, Peshawar, or Multan.
Security measures remain in place, with Rangers deployed and a Section 144 ban in effect. The Islamabad High Court ruled on Sept 14 that no political party can occupy public roads in the capital.
